“Xenograft Tumor Models for Cancer Research: A relevant Pre-Clinical Platform”

The Laboratory Animal Research Center (LARC) conducted an online workshop about: Xenograft Tumor Models for Cancer Research: A relevant Pre-Clinical Platform. This workshop was conducted in collaboration with Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) on Tuesday 8th March 2022.

The workshop aimed to focus on the relevance of Xenograft rodent animal models in cancer research, and address the new technologies used in cancer therapy. A group of local and international speakers participated in this workshop:

Dr. Shahab Uddin: is a Principal Research Scientist and Head of Molecular Pathophysiology Core, at Transnational Research Institute, Hamad Medical Corporation Doha-Qatar. He is also an Adjunct professor of Cancer Biology at Laboratory of Animal Research center, Qatar University (QU).

Dr. Balaji Ramachandran: is a Lead scientist leading the in-vivo oncology group and managing anticancer therapeutic programs at Syngene International Foundation, India.

Dr. Mohammad Haris: is a Lead scientist in research department at Sidra Medicine and an Adjunct professor of Cancer Biology at Laboratory of Animal Research center, Qatar University.

Dr. Allal Ouhtit is a Professor of Biology and Functional Genomics within the Department of Biological & Environmental Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences at Qatar University.

Dr. Fatemeh Darakhshan-Rassam is a Biomedical Sciences and Health Technical Program Manager at the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF).

Dr. Hamda al-Naemi, the founder and director of LARC highlighted the center's outstanding potential, which supports the consolidation of local and international efforts in cancer research for human health benefits.
The workshop was attended by a number of people who are interested in cancer research within the country.
